From the Desk of Pastor Hernan Hullana

I am writing to inform you of our intention as a church, to send Soren Sundararaj as a missionary to the field of Sri Lanka. We believe that the Lord has called Soren to this needy field within the 10/40 window of the world. 

As his pastor, I have observed his faithfulness to the Lord and growth into a mature young man. Soren, grew up in our church from his teenage years, when his family moved to Sydney. During his time here, the Lord impressed upon his heart to pursue further study and training at a Bible College in the USA. Consequently, during one of the chapel services at college, God confirmed His call upon Soren’s life to go to Sri Lanka as a missionary; the country of his birth. 

Last year, Soren finished his degree and got the opportunity to intern with veteran missionary Terry Unruh in Sri Lanka for the last 6 months of 2017. During this time, we had been praying for God’s leading upon Soren’s life and as a church we recognised his passion, suitability and calling to return to Sri Lanka. It is our intention to commission Soren during our Missions Conference in June of this year.

When praying, the Lord impressed upon my heart the scripture:

2 Timothy 2:2  
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

During Soren’s internship, he had a rigorous schedule of preaching and teaching. He preached church services, revivals and evangelistic meetings. He taught Sunday school for all ages, taught Bible Institute and personal discipleship. Amongst all this, he was also tasked to win people to Christ, support the pastors of the churches he ministered in, and travel around Sri Lanka to work, labour and pray. He did so with flying colours, by the grace of God. 

He came back to Australia with an absolute desire to return to Sri Lanka. He has a great burden for souls there and it will be with this passion and purpose that we will send him. He will be tasked with working under Missionary Terry Unruh, specifically focusing on 200 Pakistani refugees who have formed a congregation within the existing ministry there. He will also be involved in planting churches, and training the upcoming generation to win Sri Lanka for Christ. 

Soren is a young man who is faithful, has a proven walk with God, an appetite to labour diligently and a willingness to learn. He has a heart for souls and has a great passion to see them trained to teach others also. He is still yet to be married and so it is important to note that we are sending him with the knowledge that he will be working under a missionary on the ground who has been there for over 20 years.

I recommend Soren to the work that God has called him to do and I pray that you would consider him for prayerful and financial support.
